Scavengers

Watercolor on arches rough paper 300 gsm. I have used a mix of alizarin crimson, burnt sienna and prussian blue on the darkest parts. Never ever pure black. Regarding the boy on the center (which looks like more a human torch), the goal was portray the feeling of movement or even the suffering.

Coletores – Aquarela no papel arches de gramatura mais áspera. Usei uma combinação de alizarin crimson, burnt sienna e prussian blue nas partes mais escuras evitando sempre o preto puro. Quanto ao garoto no centro (que mais parece o tocha humana), o objetivo foi tentar ao máximo retratar a sensação de movimento ou até mesmo de sofrimento.

The haunting Sketch building

Just having fun with darkness. Although the composition is totally inspired by a reference photo of a very old building at São Paulo-Brazil, I decided to make it a little different in order to develop a strong sense of atmosphere. The tonal red classical awning as well as an intriguing figure staring at the others came straight from my mind; moreover, lots of dark pigments like intense phthalo blue, Turquoise, alizarin and paynes gray. The last thing, as usual, those highlight dots with opaque chinese white.

Embora a referência seja a fotografia de um velho prédio de São Paulo, decidi brincar com a composição pra deixar uma atmosfera mais sombria. A estrutura a esquerda, incluindo o toldo velho avermelhado e a figura sinistra que observa os outros, são frutos não menos sinistros da minha imaginação. No mais, cores fortes como phthalo blue, Turquesa, Alizarin e paynes gray. Por último, sempre aqueles realces em branco com uso de Tinta branca opaca.
