Algumas horas em Paranapiacaba (60 km da cidade de São Paulo), já é tempo suficiente para você sentir que o lugar é uma verdadeira ode à história. Fundada estrategicamente no alto de uma colina, por uma empresa inglesa no século XIX, o vilarejo teve papel fundamental na operação de estradas de ferro do interior paulista. Tem museu ferroviário, tem sorvete e cachaça de cambuci, tem subida, tem descida, tem comida boa, tem calor, tem frio, neblina e… tem cachorro na rua. Deus, como tem.
A couple of hours in Paranapiacaba (60 km far from São Paulo city) is enough time to feel the historical vibe of the place. Founded strategically on top of the hill in 19th century by a British company, the village played an important role regarding the railway transportation service in the countryside of São Paulo. In Paranapiacaba you’ll find a very nice railway museum, delicious cambuci Ice cream (cambuci is a native fruit) as well as cambuci liquor. Nice food and snacks. Also, be prepared to walk a little bit (some up hill ) while you admire all the charming streets and houses.

A principal dica que deixo pra quem pretende visitar, é chegar cedo . O tempo nessa região muda abruptamente alternando entre sol e uma densa neblina que vem da serra e que cobre a vila quase todos os dias. Assim, chegando o quanto antes você pode aproveitar calor e frio, não necessariamente nessa ordem, claro.
For those who intend to visit the place, I strongly advise you to go as earlier as possible in the morning. Due to an unusual weather phenomenon of the region, suddenly a sunny day may become a foggy and atmospheric day. Therefore, the sooner you arrive, the better your chances of enjoying both temperatures.
